in her shoes - vox creative x sephora (2021)

The world tends to see us in sum total, while our relationship with ourselves is formed in bits and pieces, from head to toe.

Vox Media’s The Cut partnered with Sephora to create a series of branded segments highlighting the journey of falling in love with one small part of ourselves. Each segment leans into the natural intimacy of the audio medium and features a love letter written by one of four creators of color, to one part of their body. The branded audio segments were distributed in The Cut’s In Her Shoes podcast to introduce Sephora’s 15% Pledge dedicating shelf space to Black-owned businesses.

role: As the producer and voiceover talent for these segments, I wrote interview preps, conducted the interviews with the talent below then wrote the audio scripts based on the conversations before recording my voiceover for the intro/outro for each segment.

During each interview, I listened closely to guests, who were entrusting me with their personal stories—about their insecurities, their journeys learning to love their bodies—and then translated those stories into 90-second scripts.
